Weston and Somerset Mercury, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, United Kingdom

BABY otters and a three-week-old fox called Flint are the latest residents at an animal rescue centre.

The young otter orphans, Brooke and Beck, were found by a woman walking past a river near Bridgwater.

If they had not been discovered and fished out they would have died.

Now the pair are inseparable and cry when they are apart for even a few minutes.

Flint the fox cub was found discovered by a dog walker in a field near Highbridge.

The left him in case his mother came back, but when they returned the next day he was still there alone so they called Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

He is now being looked after at the charity's base in East Huntspill with the otters.

Carer Jamie Baker said: "Flint is really sweet and playful. He will soon be going on to puppy food and is getting on fine. His colour is now changing to orange. We will soon be putting him into a group of cubs and hope to release him around September or October."

Secret World is the only 24 hour animal rescue service in the South West and specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured animals.

Each year it cares for approximately 3,000 animals and is run entirely on donations.
